The Airforce has taken to arranging formation flights of historic and modern aricraft.
A few
years ago, I go a picture of a close formation flight of a
Hellcat and a Tomcat.
This year we were treated to an amazing three-plane formation with two P-51's and
an F-15. If I remember correctly, Chuck Yeager was flying one of the F-51's; I forget who
was in the other one - please drop me a note
if you know.
Apparently, I wasn't looking at the photos when I named this page. It's pretty obvious that
the modern plane in the pictures isn't an F-14, but rather an F-15. Oh well...
A note about the photographs: if a thumbnail picture
is a link, clicking on it will load an image approximately 500x300 pixels
large (~60Kb). Under some thumbnails is the word "huge". Clicking
there will load the original scanned image of about 800x500 pixels at JPEG
75% quality (~200Kb).
